WATT, in collaboration with Ahne Studio and supporting partners, has been working with the Town of Ladysmith on updating their Official Community Plan.
Tim Shah, Senior Transportation Planner based in our Victoria office, has been the transportation lead on this project. In March of 2022, active transportation focused bikeshops and walkshops were conducted with the community to better understand barriers to walking, cycling, and using transit in Ladysmith. WATT collected feedback about the types of solutions residents would like to see in the OCP.
Above + Below: As part of the Town of Ladysmith Official Community Plan review, WATT Consulting Group led e-bike bikeshops with members of the community. Ladysmith is a hilly town with grades on some roads in the order of 15-18%. Participants had a chance to conquer the hills with their e-bikes and experience their many benefits.
Funding for the bikeshops/walkshops was obtained through a UBCM Active Transportation Grant
Transportation Strategy + Policy Development
WATT also led the development of 50 detailed transportation policies focused on prioritizing green, safe, and convenient choices for getting around, including walking, cycling, and transit.
